Wednesday Morning, 8/20/2008

High pressure cresting over us today will give us an awesome day across Central New York.  We’re starting off pretty cool this morning, with temperatures in Syracuse dropping into the upper 40s.  the coolest temperatures we saw this morning were mid 30s in the Adirondacks and also down in Mount Vision in Otsego county.  Thankfully, the air over us is DRY, and it’ll be warming quickly.  As you can see in the TimeCast just to the left of this discussion, temperatures will be around 70 by lunchtime, and we should hang in the low 70s through the afternoon.  The humidity will be low and winds will be light, making for a picture perfect day.

The movement of weather systems is getting “stuck” again across the US, but this time we’re in the meteorological sweet spot.  That’ll mean a continuation of the sunny days and clear nights.  We should slip back to near 50 tonight, but then see afternoon highs tomorrow warm into the 80s.  Winds will remain from the southeast Thursday and Friday, and that will mean a continuation of the low humidity.  It really won’t be until Saturday, that we see winds come around to a more southerly direction, and that should bring the humidity upwards a bit over the weekend.

A cold front forecast to slip through Sunday could bring a few thunderstorms, but behind that, more dry air will build back down over us for early next week.
